More about the Pupusas

According some versions the tradition comes from pre Hispanic civilization in América. The origin of Pupusas are in the current west territory side of El Salvador. Recipe is easy but the process takes its time. Pupusas are thick corn or rice tortillas stuffed typically with smashed beans, cheese or pork and combinations (modern Pupusas include other interesting ingredients); then sizzled over a fire and serving piping hot, normally accompanied with a local preparation, basis tomato sauce and cabbage as garnish.

Olocuilta town is one of the referents in Pupusas tradition. In 2015, the town organized a festival and elaborated the biggest Pupusa in the world certified by Guinness World Record. During the  visit, most noteworthyknow the place where is still  standing the special griddle used for this and will try delicious pupusas in a local “pupusería”.
