Tour La Palma visiting San Ignacio Town and Cihuatán Archaeological Site.

First, discover Cihuatán, the largest and least known archaeological place in El Salvador. It is an antique and big pre-Hispanic city, considered as an important culture center and residential area of the age integrated with pyramids, Mayan football fields and another structures. It was inhabited until the 1050 a.c. probably due the wars and conflicts during that period.

Later, continuw the journey and explore a beautiful town that hides between the mountains in the north area of the country: La Palma. This small village is the reference of the handicrafts in El Salvador, which are the main source of economical resources for its habitants. The most important design for crafts is the Naif art, created by the Salvadorean Fernando Llort and transmitted to the artisans who print perfectly the art in their wonderful creations made of clay, mud, and wood and inclusive the famous Copinol seeds. The importance of this town is not just for the crafts, La Palma has also a historical importance, during the Civil War it was the host of the first dialog between the Guerrilla and the Government, which would culminate with the sign of the Peace Agreement on 1992.

Nearby La Palma, following the road between the mountains, you find San Ignacio town. A quiet place from you can see El Pital, the highest point in El Salvador an impressive mountain with steep slopes with 2,730 msnm, the landscape is amazing. San Ignacio has a nice weather and broad meadows where are produced many of the fruits and vegetables that you are not able to find in any other place in the country.
