Saint Oscar Arnulfo Romero, is perhaps the most illustrious salvadorean of our contemporary history. His life is admired by the local and foreign religious community, who has a deep respect for his memory and legacy. His recent beatification in the Vatican has caused a stir with comments of all kinds in his image; and inspired to many people to know about his history and origin.
Visit San Salvador, the salvadorean capital city. Have a sightseen tour at the historical center: National Palace, National Theater and El Rosario Church. In Metropolitan cathedral, you find the crypt dedicated to Saint Romero where his human remains are resting. Continue to La Divina Providencia Chapel, place where you can appreciate some of his personal belongers conserved on his original room and in contrast here is the same place where he was murdered, during a mass on 1980.
Continue to José Simeon Cañas University (UCA), place where you find an exposition about Saint Romero and similar histories about other people who died during the civil war. Finally, in Santa Tecla two important spots; El Carmen Church, where Monseñor was just a few hours before of his death; and later the Chacón sister house, this is the home of two old ladies who had a strong friendship with the salvadorean saint and preserve several remembers coverted currently in a memorial on his honor.
